Union County Public Schools

Union County Schools – a Georgia Charter School System – currently serves approximately 2,900 students in Blairsville and Suches with a graduation rate of 99%. The vision of "Cultivating the Leaders of Tomorrow" rings throughout the school system by identifying needs for each student and providing academic, artistic, athletic and community opportunities

Every Union County Public Schools student in grades 6-12 receives a laptop for use at home and at school. Students in grades 3-5 work on laptops in the classroom.

STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education in Union County schools provides integrated instruction in physics, engineering, chemistry, biology and health sciences.

Additionally, the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education Pathways program at Union County High School provides students with personalized instruction with career pathways such as health sciences, education, forestry and metals technology.

Union County High School (UCHS) also partners with North Georgia Technical College, University of North Georgia and Young Harris College to offer dual enrollment. Students in the program can take college classes on the Union County High School campus, at the colleges and online. In the 2017-18 school year, 161 Union County high school students participated in at least one dual enrollment course.

Union County is a Cornerstone Community in Georgia’s Great Promise Partnership, a public-private partnership that empowers and equips at-risk students to complete high school while gaining real-world job skills and experience. GPP Workplace students spend part of the day at their regular school assignment and part of the day at a job location in a substantive entry level job with real outcomes and evaluations.
