From Blairsville via GA 515, it is 119 miles to Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport, which was the world's busiest in number of scheduled commercial airline flights in 2001. The Hartsfield Terminal complex currently handles 2,400 arrivals and departures daily.

At Hartsfield, new technology means that aircraft can land in weather conditions which previously required inconvenient and expensive diversions to other airports. BLAIRSVILLE AIRPORT
The Blairsville Airport has a 5,000 foot X 100 foot paved and lighted runway located 3 miles southwest of Blairsville at latitude 34 degrees 51.195 minutes north and longitude 84 degrees 0.102 minutes west. Just opened is a $3-million expansion making it a regional airport. Although the runway is open and operational, final construction will not be completed until late 2006.
There is a beacon, runway lights and threshold lights, but no instrument approach or other navigational aids, except for a VORTAC unit about 7 miles northeast. Thirty-one new T-hangers were completed in 2006. Other services provided are: aircraft tie down, hangers, 100 LL fuel, rest rooms, auto rental, telephone (706) 745-4307, and is attended from 8:00 a.m. to dusk daily and Sundays. Because of the mountainous terrain, no rail service is available to industries and industrial sites in Blairsville. The nearest rail service is available from CSX Corp at Copper Hill, Tennessee, 32 miles west of Blairsville, or Norfolk Southern Corporation at Gainesville, GA, 53 miles south.
