Go one block to 4-way stop at Rite-Aid.  Turn left.

Go one block to Hunt-Martin (Hospital) Street and turn right.  Office is on the right at 100 Hunt-Martin Street.

United Community Bank, Incorporated is building a 40,000 sf. Corporate Operations Center on Airport Industrial Drive in BARIP.  Approximately 180 will be employed in this new center.  UCBI is the third largest bank with headquarters in Georgia.

Blue Ridge Mountain E.M.C., electric power supplier for Union County, announced a rate REDUCTION of 3.5% effective October 2006.  System growth of 4.3% last year is cited as the reason for the DECREASE in electric rates.  Other power companies in the area have raised rates during this same period.

Applewood Doors and Windows, Inc. has completed construction on a new 113,400 sq. ft. manufacturing plant at the Blairsville Airport Regional Industrial Park. They make wooden doors and windows.  Employment is 50.

The Blairsville Airport has expanded to a  5,000 foot by 100 foot runway.  It has been resurfaced and re-striped.  Thirty-one T-Hangers have being added.  A new terminal and access road is planned on the north side of the runway.

Cott Beverages has added a third shift at their bottled water plant, producing private label water.  The plant's production of 4.5-million cases will be shipped to Wal*Mart Distribution Centers in NC and GA.  Employment has grown to to 35 at the 60,000 sf. plant.  Carl Anderson is Plant Manager.  Cott  uses the reverse osmosis process to remove impurities from the water.

Union County Schools rate #4 out of 185 Georgia school systems in the percent of students graduating from High School.

All our public school test scores are upper quartile!  Union County Elementary School  received the 2005 Gold Award of Academic excellence.  During 2005, 97.39% of UCES students met or exceeded grade level standards.  Only one other Title 1 school in Georgia was so honored.

A new $8.4-million Union County Middle School on Wellborn Street, began operations in August 2006.

A $35-million expansion of the award-winning Union General Hospital has opened.  Much of the original building has been replaced.  All 45 patient rooms are private rooms.  Union General Hospital has been named Rural Hospital of the Year 2007 in Georgia.  This is the third time it has been so honored.

BARIP is the local name for the Blairsville Airport Regional Industrial Park.  Let us show you how it would be a good home for your industry.
